ORLANDO, Fla. - MÄK Technologies, the world's leading
supplier of distributed simulation software, has been awarded a contract by
the Air Force Research Lab at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and the Mesa
Research Site, to design and develop a simulation environment to enable more
effective time sensitive targeting (TST) team training and mission analysis.
This new desktop simulation will support TST staff interaction with combat
crews flying Air Force DMO flight simulators, as well as individual operator
training. Zel Technologies (ZelTech), as a subcontractor, will provide subject
matter expertise to the trainer, as well as information about the TST system
they developed for the Air Force. The contract was sponsored through the US
Government's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, which assists
smaller companies in the development of commercial products.
"We're extremely pleased to be developing this critical
trainer for the Air Force," said Warren Katz, MÄK's chief operating
officer. "The ability for a warfighter to train anytime, anywhere via
this PC-based solution will drastically reduce the cost for such training,
while increasing the available times and places to perform it."
MÄK has previously developed military tactical trainers
under the brand name SIMinterNET. These trainers, built using MÄK's commercial
off the shelf simulation toolkits, include Battle Command 2010, MAGTF XXI,
Army Command 2010, and Spearhead II. SIMinterNET trainers are an affordable,
low-overhead, PC-based solution for staff or team planning and decision training.
They are HLA compliant, allowing interoperability with each as well as other
HLA based simulations, and can be networked via a LAN or the Internet.
