The Multi-sensor Command and Control
Aircraft (MC2A) System Program Office at the Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom
AFB, MA, has awarded contracts to three teams for the initial design of the
Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) suite for the E-10A Multi-sensor
Command and Control Aircraft. Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman
head the winning teams. Zel Technologies, LLC (ZelTech) is member of the Lockheed
Martin and the Northrop Grumman team.
The contracts, worth $4 million
each, cover a six-month performance period ending in February 2004, with a
down-select to one team in April 2004.
According to ESC, The E-10A
will provide ground moving target indication and synthetic aperture radar
imaging, both of which allow operators to detect ground threats. It will also
supply air moving target indication to support a cruise missile defense mission,
and an airborne battle management, command and control, or BMC2, capability.
The BMC2 suite will provide the battle management, and command and control
capability for the new E-10A MC2A weapon system.
