A2IPB (Automated Assistance
with Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace) successfully completed the
DoDIIS certification process. DoDIIS (Department of Defense Intelligence Information
System) certification is given to applications that meet a stringent set of
security, integration, interoperability and training requirements. This certification
allows applications to execute in approved SCI facilities and enables A2IPB
to be fielded in National, Joint, and service intelligence production centers
world-wide.
The certification effort
began last January, when the A2IPB team began researching and understanding
the DoDIIS requirements. A six month development effort was then undertaken
to implement and meet all the requirements. The certification effort included
a myriad of internal test events, including functional, security and integration
testing, as well as major documentation rewrites to meet operational standards.
DoDIIS certification testing
consists of two external testing events, Beta I and Beta II. A2IPB underwent
Beta I testing this past November at Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
To successfully pass Beta I testing, an application must meet at least 75%
of all requirements and have no Category I test findings. Less than half the
programs that go through a Beta I test event pass the test the first time.
A2IPB passed successfully the first time without any Category I test findings
and met an astounding 89% of all requirements.
After Beta I, A2IPB received
a recommendation to proceed to Beta II. Beta II testing must be performed
at an operational DoDIIS-certified location. A division of the National Air
and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH
volunteered to participate as the Beta II site location. A2IPB personnel went
on-site in mid-January to support the Beta II effort. After three weeks of
support, during which installation, functional testing, security testing and
interoperability testing occurred, A2IPB successfully passed Beta II with
no major findings. A2IPB will receive certification to field to DoDIIS locations
within the next few weeks.
This outstanding accomplishment
could not have occurred without the extraordinary efforts of the entire A2IPB
team. Team members that supported this effort include: Chuck Mitchell, Kathleen
Mayfield, Ellen Gazala, Jennifer Simpson, Rob Poppert, Gary Scott, Michael
Batts, Andy Tran, Rod Lehman, Angela Yeung, Tom Whanger, Alex Stamenkovich,
Matt Heffernan, Chuck Simpson, John Cerone and Scottie Cornwell. Our many
thanks for a job well done!
