System Features

ZelTech’s Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (Z-MILES) Independent Detection System (IDS) is a complete vehicle instrumentation system for MILES-based training. The system simulates live fire exercises in real world environments through visual and audio cues set off by MILES code actions such as kill, catastrophic kill, mobility kill, hit, and near miss. With the use of 2.4GHz radios, installation can be performed with no obstructive cabling. Simple push button setup and test makes preparing for training quick and easy, leaving more time to train. The IDS is easily configurable for many types of vehicle platforms and requires no advanced training to operate. With the emphasis on reduced complexity, the Z-MILES IDS is designed for the soldier and does not require technician or engineering assistance to setup or operate.

Display Control Unit (DCU)


This module receives RF cues to be used as the command interface between the user and the rest of the system. Internal battery is a 3.6VDC AA Lithium battery. The DCU operates in the ISM band at 2.4GHz frequency.

Strobe Module


The Strobe is the primary Visual Cue for a MILES hit/kill indication. The strobe uses an omnidirectional array of LED lights that flash when a MILES hit/kill indicator is received.

Power Control Unit (PCU)


This is the main power control subsystem. The RF communication is operated on the ISM band at 2.4GHz. The internal battery is a rechargeable 12VDC battery. The PCU also includes the strobe interface, as well as interface to player unit radio, in the event that vehicle radio link instrumentation is added.

Wireless Detectors

The wireless detector has an internal 3.6VDC AA Lithium battery. This module communicates with the PCU via the ISM band 2.4GHz RF link whenever a correctly sensed and decoded MILES message is received.

Small Arms Transmitter (SAT) * if required for armored vehicle


The SAT is a laser that is initiated by dry-fire attachment or blank fire sensing from its host weapon. It uses an internal 3.6V AA Lithium battery. The transmitter clamps to the weapon barrel for security and alignment. This module communicates via RF using the ISM band at 2.45 GHZ..
